Startup CPO (Chief People Officer)
In this key role you will be directly contributing to the growth of Countsy’s business by providing strategic HR leadership to start-up clients with the goals of growing and developing key client accounts, managing and driving service delivery, as well as mentoring and developing internal HR staff. This is a remote position with occasional, as-needed client visits and Countsy team meetings.
Responsibilities
Management of a portfolio of high-tech and biotech start-up clients, taking complete ownership of both the client relationship and project deliverables, while also working to expand services and increase value added to the client
Act as a trusted HR Leader as well as a strategic HR project manager on all things People - culture, total rewards selection and implementation, performance management, employee relations, leadership development and coaching, change and communication management, organizational development, training development, resource planning, immigration, employee handbooks and policy management, risk management, and compensation management
Must be well adept at sharing knowledge, mentoring and training colleagues in areas where you are the subject matter expert whether it’s employment law, investigations, compensation, immigration, etc.
Strive to achieve your goal of number of billable client hours every week. Typically, this equates to the majority of your week being spent on client specific work
Collaborate with Countsy’s Growth Leads on new client proposal calls to scope out a client’s People Operations needs
Must be technically proficient enough to know how to use Outlook and the Office suite, Google suite, and Dropbox, and be able to learn how to use Countsy’s client database and email productivity tool, Front.
Requirements
BA or BS degree in HR, Psychology or related field is preferred
20+ years of experience with progressive responsibility in Human Resources including having a solid HR Generalist / HR Management background, Executive HR Leadership experience and Team management responsibilities
Previous experience in high-tech, Life Science and/or biotech start-up environments
Prior consulting experience preferred – you’ll need to know how to juggle multiple clients and multiple priorities at once
Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing strategic HR programs such as compensation tools, performance management, training and development, culture and employee engagement programs, and diversity and inclusion initiatives
Must know how to use different HRIS tools (ADP, Gusto, Rippling, etc.) and have the ability and willingness to learn and implement new HR tools
Must be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence people at all levels both internally and with clients
You must be exceptionally organized because you will be juggling multiple clients, projects and deadlines at a time
Must be extremely self-driven and resourceful with advanced analysis, research and presentation skills
Proven ability to work independently and lead team members to establish priorities and meet deadlines
Compensation and Benefits Information
Base Pay Range: $175,000 - $190,000
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonus Plan
All Compensation is commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.

Washington Time Off and Leave
Management and Support Roles : Employees working in the state of Washington will receive the following time off and leave benefits:*
Short-Term Disability Benefits: RGP provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of paid leave for total and temporary disability due to illness or injury.
