Controller
The Countsy Controller is responsible for upholding the Company’s commitment to the Client by focusing on supporting the team and providing client back-up along with the Assistant Controller. In addition, the Controller has the managerial and interpersonal skills to address and resolve high-level Client and team issues.
This position is primarily responsible for acting as the Manger of the team. The Controller will train, coach, and assist team members at all different levels (Accounting Managers, Senior Accountants, Staff Accountants, HR Generalists, Payroll Specialists, Assistant Controller). The Controller will take the lead, along with the Assistant Controller, in all quality control reviews and team checklists.
The ideal candidate must be able to work with others at varying levels of Accounting, HR, and Payroll experience both within, and outside the organization. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, decision making, and leadership skills.

Major Responsibilities
Ensure staff is following company practices, standards, procedures, tools and methodologies.
Lead training for new team members to clients to ensure smooth transition.
Take the lead on all quality control reviews and workload reviews.
Effectively communicate with Client, and Countsy staff to understand and document priorities and work status.
Oversee new process documentation and upgrades.
Act as a point of escalation for Client issue resolution.
Assist the team’s Implementation Specialist in complex implementation projects if needed.
Controller level Client support work.
Act as a back-up on all team Clients, supporting staff across all TSC levels .
Seek and communicate ways to improve Client satisfaction.
Support Client and team with timely response to information requests.
Take ownership of work and follow tasks through to completion.
Utilize research and knowledge management channels.
Provide performance related feedback on team members as it relates to Annual Performance Evaluations.
Effectively interact with and support other Countsy staff, management and internal staff.
Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities in a timely manner (e.g. Timesheet and expense report submission, annual review, response to e-mail and voicemail, forecasting of upcoming availability).
Comply with Countsy policies and procedures.

Qualifications / Requirements
Technical skills:
Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in a variety of different industries and circumstances.
Proven research and analytical skills showing ability to reach logical conclusion and application to client situations.
Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel – familiar with higher formulas (i.e. pivot tables, IF statements, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Proficiency with various online business tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
Prior experience with revenue, inventory, currencies and/or intercompany.
Prior experience in multi-entity or startup clients (strongly recommended).
Client service skills:
Ability to manage client inquiries.
Direct complaints or complex queries to relevant team members.
Provide technical assistance.
Expedite serious issues to management for prompt resolution.
Sense of urgency necessary to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines.
Growth mindset:

Effectively adjust and prioritize new conditions, clients and changing tasks.
Accept responsibility for errors, identify corrective measures and controls for non-recurrence.
Communication and interpersonal skills:
Ability to interact directly with Client’s staff at all management levels, internally with Countsy staff and Startup CFOs and client vendors and contacts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Computer Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience. A Master’s Degree or CPA designation are a strong plus.
Experience:
Minimum of ten (15) years as an accounting professional. Must have prior experience in providing all account reconciliations, and some level of financial statements preparation with a high level of complexity.
Compensation and Benefits Information
Base Pay Range: $100,000 - $125,000
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonus Plan
All Compensation is commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.

Washington Time Off and Leave
Management and Support Roles : Employees working in the state of Washington will receive the following time off and leave benefits:*
Short-Term Disability Benefits: RGP provides eligible employees up to 12 weeks of paid leave for total and temporary disability due to illness or injury.
Maternity Leave: For pregnancy and childbirth, female employees may receive up to 8 weeks (40 days) of paid Maternity Leave.**
Parental Leave: RGP provides 2 weeks (10 days) of paid Parental Leave for the birth or adoption of a child.**
